Lifes Moments

Experiencing life's wonders

I left Reno Nevada on June 6th 2006, headed towards Colorado with a friend and her two kids. we traveled through Nevada stopping to spend an awesome day hiking and climbing in Cathedral Gorge. We continued on through Utah and into Colorado, where we first spent a week in Pagosa Springs. In Pagosa Springs we worked a Carnival over the 4th of July to attain gas money, as well as share an unforgettable experience with my travel companions. We parted ways with the kids (17 and 18 years of age) as her and I continued on through Wolf Creek Pass.
As we arrived Del Norte Colorado, we discovered the Rio Grand National Forest, along with all its splendor in Pinion Canyon. We camped for a week at the top of the canyon and hiked daily for 6 to 7 hours, covering challenging terrain. We often stopped and smelled the flowers and truly took everything in. We reluctantly departed our newly found home headed towards Lawrence Kansas. Who's Idea was it to leave the wonderful crisp fresh air of Colorado for the heat (107 F) and humidity (95%) of Kansas? (Oh yeah that was my idea)... sshhhshh. At this point we ditched all plans on working our way to Pennsylvania as we were planing on being in Chicago in October anyways. We wound our way back to Nevada stopping this time just outside of Denver. We stayed in this area for about a week and a half, all the while hiking and walking the days. Note: Denver via back ways is a 9 mile walk from Englewood Colorado, and well worth the walk to take in all the backyard habitats, and botanical gardens in Wash Park. We also stopped and spent some awesome time Near Vale and Aspen ski areas as well as Glen Wood Springs, Small-town. Once we forced ourselves to depart Colorado, (her idea this time), we drove to and stopped in Eskdale Utah for a short stay with an intentional community. The mentioned community was great and we truly enjoyed our time there sharing with them. After we left Eskdale, we found ourselves only 10 miles down the road at another intentional community, (Home Farm School of the Natural Order) in Baker NV, where we stayed another few days. In Baker as in our entire adventure, we enjoyed lots of meditation, yoga, and discussion of spiritual philosophy. We also enjoyed hiking around Lehman Caves National Park, where we hiked 5 miles at 11000ft like it was nothing! All of our hiking for June July really paid off! My companion and I parted ways here and I headed back to Reno area where after only a week, I was missing the freedom so I packed my backpack, called my friend to tell her to pack hers, and we were off to Maui Hawaii for another adventure.......to be continued when my fingers rest a bit... and before I head out on my next adventure to NZ.. oops thats a couple weeks away now.
